As dry icy westerly winds continued to lash the state on Tuesday, the New Year started on a chilly note with mercury dropping to lowest of the winter season so far, claiming eight more lives during last 48 hours. The cold wave is expected to intensify as weatherman predicted temperature will fall further in next couple of days.
